Career Carnival at Youth Park

Description: Temasek Polytechnic organised the first Career Carnival at the Youth Park on Sommerset Road on 13 and 14 February 1999. Visitors were not only able to obtain information on the 27 full-time courses, they were also shown glimpses of the vibrant campus life. Youths and parents were also invited to participate in the TP Live chat sessions where they could log on and chat with experts on education opportunities after the 'O' Level Examinations and the "The Spirit of Adventure and Aspirations of Youths". The Guest-of-Honour was Members of Parliament, Mr S Iswaran.

Press release. 31 Oct. 2018. Tourism Transformation Career Fair showcases emerging jobs and career pathways in the tourism sector

Description: The inaugural Joint Poly-ITE Tourism Career Fair 2018 was launched on 31 October 2018 by Temasek Polytechnic (TP), which leads the Tourism Sector-Co-ordination team (SCT). The event, Tourism Transformation, raised tourism job profiles and encouraged students to pursue tourism sector careers, as well as served as a platform for tourism partners to showcase career progression pathways and engage potential talents. The Skills Framework for Tourism was also unveiled to support the manpower strategies, highlighting pivotal jobs and critical skills needed in the Tourism sector. It provides information on the sector, career pathways, identifies 109 existing and emerging skills and competencies across 69 occupations/job roles, as well as training programmes which support the development of these skills.

Press release. 25 July 2017. Evolving retail industry attracts a new generation of tech-savvy marketers

Description: Assoc Prof Dr Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Social & Family Development, officiated the Joint Poly-ITE Retail Seminar and Career Fair on Thursday, 27 July, at Temasek Polytechnic. The theme for 2017 was "Rethink retail", with a focus on productivity and innovation. Keynote speaker was Mr David Westhead, CEO of RSH (Singapore) Pte Ltd, who also participated in the panel discussion and Q&A that included the CEO of Lazada Singapore, Mr Alexis Lanternier, as well as Ms Yong Lee Ping, Business Analysis and Operations Manager, IKEA. There were also sharing sessions given by successful poly and ITE graduates, Law Choon Keong, Temasek Polytechnic - Class of 2016, Venezia Fong, Nanyang Polytechnic - Class of 2017, Nicole Chin, Singapore Polytechnic - Class of 2015 and Kevin Lim, Ngee Ann Polytechnic - Class of 2009. Launched in 2016, the Joint Poly-ITE Retail Seminar and Career Fair enabled students to gain valuable insights and have a better appreciation for the exciting careers in the retail industry.
